 Genres and their Opening 

Each movie genres start off with different openings that gives us the glimpse to the tone, direction and narrative of the movie. Movie openings set the vibe of the film that gives the audience a sense of what to expect from the film. Openings are important for the films and it keeps the audience hooked while only giving a few hints about the plot. Different movie genres like horror, romance, sci- fi ,thriller have different openings. Some openings are listed below. 

Horror: 

Horror movies often start with a normal setting that starts getting eerie by the second which depicts that the danger is imminent.  This is to continue the slow, dark and isolated setting of the film. Horror movies are usually set in abandoned buildings. Haunted houses, forests etc. Or a flashback to the past that might explain the reason for the events that are going to take place further in the movie. For example in the conjuring: last rite Lorraine Warren get a flashback in which she is investigating an antique mirror that later sets the story line for the film. 

Romance: 
Romance movies start with showing the protagonists life before the meet the love interest . It introduces the main character in an everyday setting to make them connect to the audience. Then there's a hint of loneliness that either the main characters feel or is pointed out by someone else. A very good example is Notting Hill where a lonely travel bookshop owner meets a famous actress.
